Location: This property is located in the central area of Bochum-Riemke. Riemke is located in the north of Bochum and borders the city of Herne. Within Bochum's territory, Riemke is adjacent to the districts of Bergen, Hiltrop, Grumme and Hofstede. In the center of Riemke is the market square, where a weekly market has been held for decades. Numerous shops and restaurants are located around it. Of the former war memorial on the market square, only the base remains. Riemke is home to the Tippelsberg, part of the Castroper Heights, one of the highest elevations in Bochum. Towards the northwest, there are virtually no natural elevations. A spoil heap was deposited on the hill, which was shut down at the end of 2004. From the hill, there is an excellent distant view. To the west, you can see the city center of Essen and the Tetraeder in Bottrop. Looking north, the view extends as far as Haltern. To the east, the view is bounded by elevations at Castroper Straße and northern districts such as Gerthe. The hill is used for kite flying and is a popular meeting point for New Year's Eve.
